The Battle for New Guinea, 1941-1942
After the Japanese invasion of Port Moresby in New Guinea is halted by a combined American/Australian naval force in the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Japanese try an overland invasion. A small force of Australians valiantly hold the much larger Japanese force back in a jungle fight through miles of the Owen Stanley Range. Reinforced by American troops, the Australians finally push the Japanese back and ultimately force them out of Western New Guinea. See the Flash animation for more.
